Almost to 24 weeks. How special is that? This week has been a full one; from seeing our baby in 3D to the one year anniversary of the loss of our twins tomorrow. We also decided to walk and fundraise in their memory with the March of Dimes this weekend, the same day this baby will be 24 weeks.
Full of ups and downs, I’m so thankful to be here. To be another week closer to holding our son in our arms. It’s an amazing journey, even the fearful times.

March of Dimes 2 of 19
I found out last Saturday that this weekend is our local March of Dimes walk, raising money and awareness for preterm birth. I'm doing a fundraiser to reach $1,000 by Saturday in honor of our twin boys born last year at 20 weeks. It will be 1 day to the year after losing them, and I'll be 24 weeks with this little boy. Amazing.
Cloth Diapers 3 of 19
This is Bella's nighttime stash. She's been potty trained for over a year now, but I just can't bring myself to work on nights yet. I figure we have plenty of time, besides, she looks so adorable in the fluff.
Thankful Remembrance 4 of 19
This is a hard week. One year ago I was in the hospital hoping for a miracle, and tomorrow is the day my twins were born and lived minutes and hours. I posted this as a thank you to all of you that have supported and encouraged me through this past year.
23 weeks 5 of 19
Here we are! I'm 23 weeks 3 days in this picture and loving it. We were off to a doctor's appointment after this, where we got to see the baby in 3 day and his little face the clearest we've been able to. Keep clicking for that!
Morning Routines 6 of 19
Every morning Bella climbs into bed with me around 7am to "snummel" as she calls snuggling. I love this time with her. At least, I do now. When she used me as a jungle gym that wasn't so fun, but now she'll lay next to me and talk quietly so I can sleep a bit longer.
Bonding 7 of 19
Our little boy kicks and rolls so much now, it's fun to have Sam able to feel him. Our dog Charlie had to get in on the action as well here.
Start ‘em Young 8 of 19
Bella begged to help "nop" the floor with me. I actually wasn't sure she'd do much more than push water around, but it turned out she did half the main floor. The rest was pretty easy after that, and she loved it. Win/win.
Cravings 9 of 19
I can't even describe to you all how wonderful these were. I didn't eat the whole dozen (simply out of pure shame) but put a pretty good dent in it anyway.
Nesting 10 of 19
This past weekend Sam bought a steam cleaner for our carpets. We are both a bit neurotic about keeping the house clean, and I think as we get closer to having this baby his nesting side kicks in. Nothing sexier than a man cleaning.
Sunshine 11 of 19
The hat kills me. We spend a good part of our mornings outside when it's nice here (which is pretty often).
Time Out 12 of 19
This happens a lot more frequently than I'd like to admit. On this morning, Bella decided to be a little poop to me, and ended up in a 3 minute time out. She was very unhappy at this.
Work and Girl Talk 13 of 19
I write for the daily devotional She Reads Truth site, and one morning we all used Google + to chat about our upcoming plans and thoughts. I love this group of women intensely, their honesty and kindness has been a lifesaver.
Morning Views 14 of 19
We have pretty laid back mornings unless there's a doctor's or therapy appointment waiting. I'll sip coffee at the table while Bella cuts and glues airplanes to bring to me.
Side Effects 15 of 19
Never, in my life, have I been able to grow nails. So this pregnancy has been kind to me with that, and in return I'm finally able to have some fun with them. This was OPI "Hands off my Kielbasa" and I love the color.
Splurges 16 of 19
We bought a heartbeat listener with Bella, but never picked up much besides ear shattering static. This one from Jumper is amazingly clear, and comes with a small packet of gel to help it glide.
Playtime 17 of 19
Working on visually knowing her numbers without "working" on it means lots of creative ways to make that a part of our days. We played Go Fish, but Bella didn't really understand the part about not showing me her cards. She still won though...
Baby Boy in 3D 18 of 19
Finally we were able to get a good look at this little boy's face. There was the umbilical cord in front, making it spotty with shadows, but little lips! And that nose! We agreed he looks like Bella so much already. He was 23 weeks 3 days here.
Big Sister 19 of 19
I love Bella's age for this pregnancy. She is so excited about everything to do with her little brother, and the first time she was able to hear his heartbeat on our monitor was so amazing for us both.
How Far Along: 23 weeks and 5 days!
Baby is the size of a: Grapefruit
Sleep: Still the hip hurt. Throw in the gut wrenchingly painful leg cramps (WHERE do those come from?!) and you’ve got some sleep issues.
Total Weight Gain: 7 lbs.
Stretch Marks: Yes. And new ones. Very red. Very stretchy.
Innie or Outie: Can “small cave” qualify? It never has popped, just stretches.
Symptoms: Cravings. Heartburn but not as much.
Movement: All the time. This kid is like an acrobat. I feel awkward sitting next to strangers because I feel like they’re going to move away from me in case an alien bursts through my stomach.
Maternity Clothes: All of them.
Go-to eats: Pasta. McDonalds. Anything salty. Almost never sweets – once in a great while I want a shake, but it’s unusual. Fruit. Pineapple and watermelon especially.
Best moment of the week: Bella hearing the heartbeat and seeing his face in 3D.
What I’m looking forward to: Everything from here on out. Bring it.
Milestones: Baby can hear us and is over a pound now!
