27 Weeks Pregnancy BumpdateDevan McGuinness
I can’t believe I am rounding out the second trimester of pregnancy already — this is flying by for me and it’s becoming more real that baby will be here in a few short months.
This pregnancy has been so different than my previous ones and at times, it feels like I am all new to this again. It’s fun to share this all with my kids who are old enough to ask a lot of questions, plan and prepare with me, and get excited for all the changes. It’s been a balance of making sure we answer all their questions honestly and not freaking them out too much, and making sure their world stays as normal as possible so there is less likeliness of any blow back when the baby joins the world and our life.
I have a mini-stressful week coming up as we have a fetal echocardiogram and meet with the pediatric cardiologist to check on Baby S’ heart. I am anticipating that things will be just fine, but it’s still a little stressful for me.
Week of pregnancy: 27 weeks
Weight gain: No weight gain yet
Symptoms: So much heartburn, reak contractions, Braxton hicks contractions, nesting, food aversions.
Showing yet?: Yes, it’s not easy to miss unless you see me from behind. I woke up a few days ago though and looked so much smaller than the day before which was weird.
The best thing: Not having to suck in my belly — it’s nice to be hard and round.
The most difficult thing: I had a whole night of big contractions that went into the next day. It was hard to get them to stop and it’s was all due to dehydration which can be difficult to manage with all the vomiting and kidney issues as well.
Food cravings or aversions: I still can’t deal with any meat and have been having an easier time with a vegetarian pregnancy. I still struggle with having no appetite and haven’t had any real cravings this time around.
Feeling baby move?: Yes, he moves a lot. I am also seeing my belly move when he does and it’s been really fun to experience again.
Maternity clothes?: Yes, but I still haven’t had to buy any more clothes or maternity pants which has been a great money saver.
Appointments coming up: Fetal echocardiogram and pediatric cardiologist appointment this week.
Looking forward to: Letting the heart stress go.
Boy or girl?: He is still a boy!
Purchases?: I went on a spending frenzy this weekend and bought the clothes we need for Baby S and all the gear we need too. I picked up a swing and a co-sleeper bassinet.
