32 Week UpdateLauren Jimeson
I just returned from our 32 week ultrasound that measures the height and weight of the baby. Since we are almost to the end of our pregnancy journey, this was most likely our last ultrasound until we see our little girl when she is born.
I usually don’t make my husband come to any of my prenatal appointments, and Harlan and I have made it a special date for us when we do go to check up on baby girl #2. But this time I encouraged my husband to come with us because I really wanted it to be a family moment as we saw our little girl for the last time on the “tv” as my daughter likes to call it.
Although every appointment we’ve had has brought great results and the baby is healthy, I can’t help but be a bit nervous when they are doing a full scan of her entire body to check everything out. As the technician measured her head, brain, heartbeat, and kidneys, I kept asking her if everything looked and sounded normal. She assured me that she did.
The great news is that this little girl’s head is down! I’ve been wondering why I’ve been feeling so much pressure lately and everyone that I’ve seen has told me that I look like I am carrying lower, it must be because she finally flipped. It also explains the jabs in the ribs I keep feeling!
It’s amazing the technology we have today with these ultrasounds. The technician was kind enough to do a 4D image for us so that we could get a good look at her face. She wasn’t as cooperative as she’s been at the previous appointments. She had her hand over her face, the umbilical cord was in the way, and the placenta was covering half of her face. But from the part of her face that we did see had me in awe. The first thing I noticed was how big and plump her lips looked. My daughter and husband sat in amazement as she opened and closed her mouth and moved her hand.
After we saw her cute little face the technician did all of the measurements to see if she was measuring on schedule. She was, which is exactly what I wanted to hear! She also said that she is weighing approximately 4 lbs and 2 oz right now. It’s crazy for me to think that she already weighs that much. My first daughter was 6 lbs 9 oz when she was born, so this little girl doesn’t have much farther to go before she reaches her big sister!
Everything else looked healthy and great, which is always the news you want to hear at an appointment like this. I go back to my doctor next week for a regular prenatal appointment and then I being to see her weekly. That means we are finally in the homestretch and I absolutely cannot wait!
As far as how I feel, the morning sickness is still here (I’m convinced it’s here to stay) and I am beginning to feel a bit more tired during the day. The naps that I needed during my first trimester are starting to return. I am definitely in nesting mode and want to clean and organize everything. Lastly, my appetite has definitely increased. I feel like I could eat all the time and never get full!
Oh the joys of the third trimester!
