What Life Is Like At 38 Weeks

My 38 week belly.

I will be 38 weeks pregnant tomorrow, but I’m just rounding up.  Hope you don’t mind.

I can hardly believe that 38 weeks has blown by quite so quickly, but it has and as I see the numbers on my chalkboard countdown dwindling I can’t help but wonder how much more quickly our little baby is going to grow up once she’s here.  It’s a good reminder to just stop and enjoy all these moments.

As Fern’s due date approaches, I thought I’d stop to do a little update of what life is like around here these days.

Life at 38 Weeks Pregnant…

*I still can’t wear most of my shoes. My feel are still swollen and rather resemble maple bars.  Ewww!

*I’m currently incredibly itchy.

*I am surrounded by piles of teeny tiny laundry that take me ages to do because I stop every five seconds to “oooh” and “aaaah” over the cuteness of every item’s petite proportions.

*The nursery still isn’t finished and won’t be for awhile.  We’re still working on moving.  Step #1:  house is sold.  Step #2:  buy a new house, is proving to be a bit more difficult.

*My house is probably the most regularly clean that it’s ever been. I usually catch up on tidying every couple of days, but I’ve gotten into the routine of getting everything in tip top shape before bed each night.  Perhaps my subconscious knows I won’t want to come home from the birthing center to a messy house and since I don’t know exactly when that will be, I should probably just keep it clean all the time.

*Every so often when we’re home by ourselves either my husband or myself will turn to each other and say “Guess what?”, to which the reply is always, “We’re having a baby!”.  I think we’re both pretty excited with how close it’s getting.

*I’ve collected all the items for my overnight bag, but I’ve yet to compile them all together.  Time to get on that.

*Also…I’m really ridiculously excited to meet this baby!
