39 Weeks and Perpetually "Show Ready"

One of the hard parts about not knowing when I’m going to go into labor is the constant need to have my house “show ready” for the friends that will take care of my other children, and then the visitors that will be sure to follow once the new baby arrives.

With no family in town to drop my 3 other children off at, I’m going to rely on a couple special friends to come over a stay, those first few days.

In my house, without me here.

My due date is 5 days away, so more than likely, I’ll go into labor within the next 1-12 days. I feel like at any given moment, at the drop of a hat (or braking of my water), my family and my home needs to be ready.

Clothes packed.

Laundry done and folded. Clean sheets for everyone!

Food in the refrigerator, and floors swept.

Bathrooms cleaned, stocked, and ready to expect guests.

Kids bathed, every night. Heck, I’m showering and putting on makeup everyday, just in case.

Piles organized, clutter gone and filed away.

…And yes, I might have just bought fresh flowers for the dining room table.

I think I’m suffering from a late burst of nesting, coupled with a huge dose of stupid pride. I know, my friends and family won’t think any less of me if my house isn’t perfect. I know I should just stop the cleaning madness and enjoy these last few days of this pregnancy.

So please, somebody tell me to stop. Or better yet, just put me into labor and give me that baby to snuggle.

Are you crazy cleaning, completely nesting, during your last few days pregnant?
