I was just telling my husband today how very full my plate feels right now. Like treading water, my head is barely above water. Between work deadlines, being a stay at home mom to three, volunteer commitments, and everything that comes along with the upcoming holiday season, I find myself easily overwhelmed.
Oh, and sometimes I forget that I’m seven months pregnant.
While whining about my to-do list, my husband looks over to me and says, “don’t forget to name that little boy growing in your belly”.
I know, I know, naming this little guy is something I’m starting to drag my feet on. Not because I don’t want to do it, but because I’m overwhelmed by it’s importance. I mean, this person is going to have his name forever, and I’m responsible for giving it to him. Ugh, the pressure!
I want his name to be strong, have meaning and importance.
This week, Babble writer Jillian Capewell wrote a quick piece on baby names across the globe that mean “Thanksgiving”. I love this idea, naming your child after a word that evokes a feeling of thankfulness. Because what more can you be thankful for, than a child? If my due date was in the month of November, I would be seriously considering using this idea.
My favorite boy name from from her list? Gratian, which means grateful in Latin.
Folks, I have 10 weeks, plus or minus a few, to figure out what my youngest child will be named. Amidst my daily grind of busy life, I’ve promised my husband that I will stop avoiding the situation and spend some quality time in meaningful thought about it.
I’m of course also taking suggestions…
How about you? Have you decided on a name with strong meaning?
