Adorable Handmade Baby Mobiles for the Nursery

emilybmalone EmilyBMalone |

This adorable mobile makes me want to pull out the craft box!

With just a few weeks left in my pregnancy (I hope!), I’ve been putting all the finishing touches on our nursery.  All of the big pieces are here, the art is hung on the walls, and slowly but surely I’m making my way through all the laundry.

One thing I don’t have yet is a mobile for hanging over either the crib or the changing table.  I know this isn’t a necessity, but I have heard from other moms that mobiles can occupy babies for long stretches of time, and can be a great addition to the nursery.

I looked for some inspiration online and discovered that other moms (far more crafty than me) have made some incredible handmade creations.  Here are ten adorable handmade baby mobiles that make me want to pull out my glue gun and get to work!

  • Rainy Days

    Rainy Days

I love the idea of taking something that is usually sad like a rain cloud, and turning it into something cheery and colorful in a nursery. This is probably one I should consider in Seattle!

  • Yarn Balls

    Yarn Balls

I like that this mobile is colorful, but has no "theme" attached, so it could be re-purposed for multiple nurseries or even kids' rooms.

  • Elephants

    Elephants

I am a huge sucker for yellow and grey, and I think this mobile looks so calming and peaceful.

  • Paper Flowers

I am not a crafty person at all, and I feel like I MIGHT have a chance of being able to make something like this. Simple, colorful, and adorable.

  • Birds & Branches

    Birds & Branches

This is my personal favorite of the group, mostly because it matches my nursery the best. I love the wooden rings the birds are perched on!

  • Sleep Sheep

Nothing like counting sheep to lure the little one to sleep, right?

  • Forest Fun

    Forest Fun

Owls are everywhere this year, including hanging above the crib! This forest themed mobile is such a cute touch.

  • Up, Up, and Away!

    Up, Up, and Away!

My little sister had a hot air balloon nursery, and I always though it was so cute! These look simple to make, and would definitely brighten up any room.

  • Recycling

    Recycling

This is definitely a more unique look, but I think the recycled bike wheel is so cool for a mobile. The paper airplanes would be so fun in a little boy's room!

  • Vintage Appeal

    Vintage Appeal

This mobile just screams Anthropologie to me, and I think it would be so pretty in a little girl's vintage-inspired nursery.

I love all of them! Much more interesting than store bought.

actually, the felt ones are more anthropological. I don’t suppose there were any diy guides with any of these. I know a lot of pregnant moms who would love a hand-made gift like this- and I love a good craft project. (Sadly I am done with the baby phase myself)

Aw – thank you so much for including our mobile! :) I had so much fun making it, and just over the past couple weeks our little girl has finally taken notice of it. She loves staring at it, and coo’s at it a lot now!
