It's not easy to judge the best of the best maternity bras, since differently shaped bodies fit in differently shaped bras. So we assembled a team of new and seasoned moms and consulted with maternity bra expert Jenn Sullivan, owner of the Hudson Valley-based Waddle-n-Swaddle boutique and wellness center, for their opinions.
It's impossible to know just how large your postpartum breasts will be, so it's best to hold off on a pricey nursing bra collection until your milk comes in. We picked a few favorites that are designed to grow and stretch to accommodate engorgement and the early breastfeeding weeks. Try not to make a serious investment until after your milk supply stabilizes - usually after 6 weeks. When you're ready to buy well-fitting, supportive nursing bras, we absolutely recommend getting a quality bra fitting at a local specialty store. Proper bra fitting is always important, but even more so now that too-tight bras can impair milk drainage and cause breast infections.

Best Nursing Tank | Glamourmom Satin Straps
There’s a reason Glamourmom is the most recommended nursing tank: it’s the best. Generally speaking, most nursing moms choose between the cotton or satin straps (although large-busted women should go with the supportive Glamourmom Full Bust Nursing Bra Top. And while our bra expert praises the Nursing Bra Tank’s cotton straps for their non-bra-like style (they look like ordinary tank tops) and good adjustability, most moms ultimately preferred the Nursing Bra Top’s satin straps because the clasps are easier to open and close with one hand.
The company also has a newer Glamourmom Nursing Bra Tummy Control Long Tank ($54), with a built-in support panel designed to trim postpartum tummies. It got mixed reviews from our testers, with most preferring the classic style.
