Baby Books for Dads

Today, I went on a baby class signing-up rampage.  And a baby book buying rampage.  But that’s a post for another day.

Until then, I wanted to ask all my fellow Babblers for advice. Do you have any newborn/toddler book recommendations for fathers? My husband really wants to read something specifically geared towards the male perspective.

I’ve seen many books on dealing with pregnancy for dads, but my husband would rather figure out what to do when there’s a screaming, crying, pooping, or cooing infant in his arms. We’re looking for something that talks about parenting, not just keeping the baby alive (although that, of course, is also very helpful).

In exchange, I’ll give you a list of books that I’ve picked up during pregnancy!  I haven’t read them all yet, but they sure look good!

  • Birthing from Within by Pam England
  • Ina May’s Guide to Childbirth by Ina May Gaskin
  • The Panic-Free Pregnancy by Michael S. Broder
  • The Happiest Baby on the Block by Harvey Karp
