Lauryn Hill is no stranger to drama.
She announced her pregnancy from the stage of her concert in Detroit’s Chene Park, telling the crowd, “I’m going to be taking time off to give birth.” Of course in a form-fitting striped dress, it wasn’t exactly a secret at that point.
And when she gave birth to a little boy on Saturday, her son had his umbilical cord wrapped around his neck.
It’s the sixth child for the former Fugees singer, who has five other kids with Rohan Marley: Zion, 14, Selah, 13, Joshua, 9, John, 8, and Sarah, 3. It’s unclear if Marley is the father of Hill’s sixth child.
Thankfully, mother and baby are fine and everyone is said to be happy.
After Hill left the wildly successful Fugees, she released a solo album, The Mis-Education of Lauryn Hill, which earned her five Grammy awards in 1998. A second solo album has been greatly anticipated, but has yet to materialize. She returned to performing last year.
