Babymoons
Babymoon: It's the last hurrah before baby arrives, when twosomes retreat for together time. Yet, as a mother of three, I speak from experience when I say that two-and-a-bump is no honeymoon. Yes, it can be fun. It can be relaxing. It can even be romantic. But a babymoon requires special considerations; namely, access to your healthcare network (Africa is out), plentiful bathrooms and 24/7 dining options.
1. Atlantis Paradise Island Resort & Casino / Mandara Spa, Bahamas
Die-hard travelers cringe at the mention of a mega resort like Atlantis, but for once, a reality-TV-version of nature trumps the real thing. Touted as the world's largest marine habitat, Atlantis is a sprawling water wonderland with above-average accommodations tucked between eleven open-air exhibition lagoons. Rather than embark on an exhausting multi-island snorkeling trip, a simple walk around the resort lets you get up close to creatures of the deep, from manta rays to moray eels.
What's more, the Bahamas gives you the feel of a Caribbean vacation without the extra airtime. When you land, Atlantis is thirty minutes from the airport, a huge advantage over the many resorts you can only get to via several hours of bumpy road travel.
