Here on Babble, we’ve been talking about how some men look at pregnant women through lust-filled eyes — whether it’s because of a biological urge, the new sexual freedom of pregnancy or the whole pregnant celebrity fascination. As Rebecca pointed out, PILF is the new MILF.
While the pin-up pregnant woman is a bit disturbing to me, it’s nice that moms-to-be finally have a license to feel sexy. Yet maternity bras — in all of their supportive, full-coverage glory — aren’t exactly the most attractive lingerie purchase you’ll be making.
Or maybe they will be…

For a lot of pregnant woman (myself included) there tends to be a disconnect between how your body looks and how your mind thinks your body looks. For instance, you might take the stairs a little too fast and get dizzy, or you might instinctively bend down only to realize that your body no longer moves that way. And when it comes to pregnant sex, even though you logically know that your larger figure is due to your growing baby, a part of you might feel unfairly stripped of your attractiveness.
And for this reason, I love that more and more maternity lingerie companies are popping up with flirty maternity wear. Because, sure, some men are attracted to women full of life, but it’s more important for pregnant women to feel attractive in their own skin.
Our favorite sexy maternity wear is from HOTMilk. Not only do they have a wide variety of pretty nursing bras, but they’re also supportive and comfortable — unlike some other options that are more for bedroom use. The above “Her Radiance Enchanted Him” bra sells for $66.45.
Elle Macpherson makes some of the most popular nursing bras on the market — and for good reason. They’re known to be both functional and oh-so-pretty, like this Satin and Lace Maternity Nursin Bra selling for $62.70 at Figleaves. (Find more Elle Macpherson maternity bras at Pea in a Pod.)
Cake Lingerie is a must-see for pregnant women who need a little pretty in their lives. When I saw these in person I thought Nu-uh, no way, these can’t be maternity bras. Yet they’ve masterfully combined attractive lingerie with functional maternity wear. Find them at Destination Maternity and Bare Necessities for around $65 each.
Some of the prettiest nursing bras are made by Passion Spice (the photo doesn’t do them justice). We absolutely recommend them for a romantic night or special occasion, yet we think they lack the support of other options for everyday use. Find them at Stylin’ Momma for around $20 each.
Lastly, we absolutely love this Cupid Bra by Agent Provocateur, designed for pregnancy and beyond. It’s rare to find a full-coverage, supportive bra that’s also so flattering. However, it will definitely cost you at $110.
