Gift Idea: 9 Books for 9 Months of Pregnancy

Sometimes, 40 weeks of gestation can feel like eternity. Know what makes time go by quicker? Baby gifts!

Seven years ago, when I announced I was pregnant with my first, my sister in law gave us the most thoughtful baby gift ever, the gift of one children’s book for every month I was pregnant.

I looked forward to the first of the month with eager anticipation, knowing that the mailbox would contain a special manilla envelope addressed to myself and new baby “E”.

In the cover of each new book, she wrote a message to her new niece of nephew, explaining why she chose the particular book, and a hope or dream she had for little him or her. Each book was dated with the year and month given.

At the end of my pregnancy, I had a good start to a children’s library that in time, would only grow and grow, just like my new baby.

Since receiving this gift from my sister-in-law, I have also started giving it to my new mom friends, as they wait in anticipation.  My sister recently adopteda son, and as soon as she made an announcement, the books started coming her way as well!
