Gift Ideas from the New Baby for the Older Sister

When I had my son 3 years ago, I wanted to give my daughter something special from her new little brother to give her a little boost in feeling special. At the same time, I wanted the gift to be age appropriate and sure to provide some much need entertainment. Now that I’m about to have another little boy, I’m on the hunt again. It’s not easy coming up with gift ideas, so I decided to ask other moms to help me compile a list of great tried-and-true entertaining toys that are sure to make her feel special. Check out what final list by age is after the jump…

  • American Girl Dolls or Our Generation Dolls For You 6 Year Old 7 of 8
American Girl Dolls or Our Generation Dolls For You 6 Year Old
American Girl Dolls are so much fun, but literally punch a whole in your wallet - just watch as you walk around the store and see your savings drain before your eyes. That's where Our Generation from Target comes in handy. The dolls are a quarter of the price and just as much fun. This is what the baby is buying my daughter this time around. She has one doll already and we are adding another so she can set up tea parties and create all sorts of activities for them.
Get one of these Our Generation dolls from Target for $22.99
  • Make-Up For Your 7 Year Old 8 of 8
Make-Up For Your 7 Year Old
You may not approve of make-up for such a young girl, that is until you have a newborn and are desperate to keep her entertained. She will have a blast and create clownish faces (at least that what my kid does). We bought her a package of make-up remover wipes to go along with it, so she is able to clean her own face for a redo.
Get this make-up set from Target for $10.00
