As I mentioned yesterday, I had a checkup with my OB in Boston yesterday afternoon. And you guys, I’m still reeling from the weigh-in portion of the appointment.
I gained FIVE pounds in the last two weeks. Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat.
I was shocked because my weight gain has been very slow and steady the last 8 months. I didn’t gain much in the first trimester due to lack of appetite, but since December I’ve been putting on two or three pounds at each checkup–every four weeks.
So yesterday when I saw the numbers tick by on the scale I couldn’t believe I’d gained five pounds in two weeks. I guess I’m not THAT surprised–just last week I noticed my pants don’t fit anymore and, duh, this is why.
I was about to commence a shame and guilt-driven rant to my doc about how I really have been trying to take care of myself, but my OB cut me off and assured me that my weight is fine overall and he isn’t even a bit concerned. The doc took a quick peek of the baby with the in-office ultrasound machine and he looks healthy and is happily head-down with lots of fluid surrounding him.
So thankfully, this crazy hormonal pregnant lady went from the brink of a breakdown to feeling pretty damn good about how well that checkup went. Now pass the ice cream!
