I Should Probably Be Registering Now

HELP!  I need your assistance with building my baby registry. As I’ve written before, I am pretty clueless when it comes to childcare. Never changed a diaper, never independently entertained a baby. I’ve only got a few months to figure it all out. The other night, I looked around our apartment and realized that we own approximately zero baby items. Gulp. At 22 weeks, I should probably be registering now.

My friend Brittany said to me, “We decided to just have the basics, and I’m so glad we did. We really didn’t need much at all at the beginning, and I still think that we don’t need much. I think (like weddings) the baby industry tries to make you feel like you NEED so much. But clean diapers, food, and a lot of snuggles will be all your baby needs in the beginning.”

This made me feel a bit better. But I’ll still got to register, and quite honestly, the thought of walking in Babies R Us makes me want to hurl. It’s so overwhelming!

I asked a few of my blog friends for recommendations, and I’m slowly pulling together a list of their ‘must have’ items:

  • Boppy newborn lounger
  • Ergo carrier
  • Pomfitis Batya infant soft bather
  • Aden+ Anais burp cloths and blankets
  • Pajamas that zip up
  • Wubbanubs
  • Tiddliwinks security blanket animal
  • City Mini jogging stroller
  • Peg Perego car seat
  • My Breast friend
  • White noise machine
  • Angelcare monitor

I asked my blog readers for registry recommendations and have been getting lots of great recommendations.  Check them out here! But Babble friends, I would love to hear YOUR advice, too. What’s the most useful item for a newborn to a three-month old? What do I need to be sure to register for (or buy myself!)?
