If I Let My Seven Year Old Name Her Brother…

Did you know that Mel B, aka “Scary Spice” let her eldest daughter name her younger sibling? Seriously, she really did! To me, that’s super scary, no pun intended.

I’ll admit, baby names don’t come easy for us. My husband shoots down almost all my suggestions, and vice versa. The decision is so emotionally taxing that oftentimes I wish someone could do it for me (and that I would like their choice).

But if I left the decision up to my seven-year-old daughter? I know exactly what I would get. Early on in this pregnancy, she made a list of suggestions.

Want to see the list? Here are the baby names my seven year old came up with to name her newest sibling:

"mom, when you go to the hospital, take this list"

This list was created before we knew we were having a boy, so there’s a column of irresistible girl names, and a column of very impressive boy names.

Favorites include:

(girls) Fofu, Jmix, Toty.

(boys) Monow, Etion and Clylo.

I don’t know, Bonrin Fiex has a nice ring to it. Don’t you think?

In all seriousness, I love my daughter, and this list is absolutely priceless to me. This little piece of yellow paper has been taped up on the refrigerator, right next to the ultrasound pictures since the day she created it. I’m pretty sure I’ll keep it forever.

But at the end of the day, unless I want Goddin Clylo as a son, this decision is going to be left up to her dad and I.

Could you, would you, ever let your older children name their new sibling?
