Jade Duell & Owen Wilson Have Successful Home Birth

By Danielle |

Only a few days after we initally reported that funny man Owen Wilson, and his mystery baby momma had planned a home birth in Hawaii, reports are surfacing that Jade Duell has successfully given birth, at home as planned.

Jade Duell gave birth to a healthy 6 pound 13 ounce baby born on Friday, January 14th, 2011 at 10:47 A.M. at Wilson’s waterfront Maui home.

It is reported she had a water birth. Super exciting after Doctors all over the country started speaking out in the media warning Wilson of the serious dangers of having a home birth, despite the current research which shows healthy, and low risk mothers with trained professionals to attend their births are just as safe birthing at home as they are in the hospital.

Reports have said mother and baby are doing great, and the new celebrity daddy is overjoyed!  Aren’t all first time parents?

No reports yet on a name for their little boy.

The home birth of their first child was initially reported by Radar online, and has spread like wildfire, especially though the home birth community.

Fantastic! I always loved Owen Wilson, now I just love him more.

As the mother of 4 home born babies, I can attest to what a calm, peaceful and SAFE option this is for low risk mothers and families. Great job Owen and Jade!

  2. Kristal says:

awesome!!! HOpefully this will start to shed some POSITIVE light on the joy of homebirth!! Take away a little power over pregnant women from the doctors who like to think of it as a ‘dangerous event’. Great job Ms. Jade.. and GO OWEN for being supportive!!

  3. soulrole says:

  4. Angel says:

Actually, studies have shown that home birth for low risk moms and babies is SAFER than the hospitals. Just clarifying.

    Contests to the new parents!!

  5. Carol O. says:

Ford Linton Wilson is the baby’s name.

  6. Nichol says:

I’m very happy for the Wilson family! What a wonderful way to bring a baby into the world. Safe, happy, at home.

  7. Rik says:

There is no place like home. Especially for birth.
    Well done!!!

  8. Happy Homebirth Mama says:

Congratulations to them! That is wonderful & I am THRILLED to hear of another beautiful celebrity homebirth!

  9. Dinah says:

WOOT! welcome earthside little one. Congratulations on your birth :)

  10. Kiki La Roo says:

Born at home…fabulousness, if I do say so myself. And you don’t have to want a Zen-like feeling to plan a homebirth. Average Jills (like moi) do it all the time. Way to go!!! Congrats!

  11. Susan Moray says:

I can’t remember ever hearing “they had a ‘successful’ hospital birth, as planned. :D

  12. Amy says:

I LOVE hearing about happy and healthy successful home births :) It’s definitely not for everyone, but it’s nice to hear happy stories as I am currently planning my first home birth (second pregnancy) for a few weeks from now. Congrats to the new parents!

  13. joycek says:

good for them, they did what they wanted to do. i realize its not for everyone and there are extenuating circumstances sometimes that require a hospital birth.. Is it riskier? not sure the jury is out on that yet…

  14. Danielle625 says:

@Joycek – Actually the most recent study shows that home birth with a trained professional in low risk women is as safe as birthing in a hospital :

  15. Dori says:

Good for them! This is fantastic. If only more people would become educated on this matter. I was one of the ignorant many until I actually started doing my research into current hospital births about a year or so ago. I love Susan Moray’s comment: “I can’t remember ever hearing “they had a ‘successful’ hospital birth, as planned.” ;)
