Mondays and 5 Other Normally Crappy Things That Are Better When You Just Found Out You're Pregnant

Mondays & 5 Other Normally Crappy Things That Don't Suck When You're Pregnant

You better believe I’m riding high on the news of my pregnancy! After the obstacles we faced to get here — the dozens of appointments, the invasive fertility treatments, the unsuccessful IVF attempt — we are beaming with joy to have learned that our second IVF cycle worked!

It’s amazing how perspective can change so quickly, and how things that would normally be enough to bring me down are suddenly no big deal. Like Mondays. I woke up today and immediately thought, “This day’s got nothing me. I’m going to be a mom!” Any other Monday, I hit snooze until the last possible moment and drag myself to work. Sure, my attitude might change when I start developing symptoms or when the newness of our news wears off. But for now, I’m reveling in it.

As the day continued, I noticed a few other things that would have normally irked me. But not today! Because today I am pregnant!

After the jump, check out 5 things that normally totally suck — if you didn’t just find out you’re pregnant.

    Ovarian Hyperstimulation Syndrome
My OHSS is pretty bad, but ever since I found out that I'm pregnant, I don't seem to be so upset about it. I look at it now as a small price to pay for the life growing inside of me.

    Rapid Weight Gain
Don't get mad at me, but because of my body type, I've been the same weight since I was 16. In fact, I don't even own a scale. So if you had told me I'd gain seven pounds in five days, I'd have laughed at you. But that's just what happened, thanks to me OHSS. And ya know what? It's totally OK.

Having Your Bridesmaid Dress 'Let Out'
My youngest brother's wedding is this weekend, and what had previously been a "perfect fit" dress is now with the seamstress for a last-minute "let out." Had I not found a woman who could do this adjustment for me in four days, this would have became a serious situation!

Sitting at Work with Your Pants Unbuttoned
The OHSS bloat and weight gain has left me sitting -- and standing -- with my pants unbuttoned! Normally, this would be awkward at this stage of the game, but I'm just so happy to be pregos that I really don't even care.

Ummm, scratch that. This one sucks any way you slice it.
