Movies I Want To Watch While I'm In LaborLauren Hartmann
I’m not gonna lie. I think labor is a little scary. Yes: I do want a baby. No: I am not super stoked about the route it must take to make its way out.
I’m still deciding where exactly I want to give birth (i.e. hospital, birthing center, or at home), but one thing I do know is that I want to make my birthing environment as comfortable as possible when the time comes. This got me to thinking…what do I do to help myself relax and get comfortable at home? The first thing that popped into my head was: “curl up on the couch and watch a bit of TV or a movie”.
But, do people actually watch TV while they’re in labor? Is that even OK? What would my midwife think? Will she judge me? What’s the etiquette here?
Did any of you watch TV while you were in labor? If so, what did you watch?
I know it’s totally “un-Portland” of me, but I really want to watch TV while I’m in labor. It’s a comfort thing, so why not? Here are some of the movies I want to watch while I’m in labor:
Anchorman 1 of 7It might help my laboring process if I incorporated some of the best punch lines into my breathing exercises - "By the beard of Zeus!"
Juno 2 of 7Juno's snarky quips about pregnancy will probably be exactly what I want to hear during labor.
Flight of the Conchords 3 of 7Funny songs and New Zealand accents are perfectly distracting.
Groundhog Day 4 of 7Unlike Bill Murray, I only have to go through labor once (well, maybe a couple times if we have more kids), not every day. How's that for looking on the bright side?
Zombieland 5 of 7No matter how painful childbirth is, it's gotta be better than getting your flesh eaten by a zombie, right?
Superbad 6 of 7Just hilarious, which is reason enough.
30 Rock 7 of 7Tina Fey can make anything better...even childbirth.
