Must-Have Items for OBGYN Appts

The waiting room at my OBGYN’s office is absolutely freezing. I live in Florida where it is currently 77 degrees outside, and I dress for the arctic tundra when I have an appointment with my vagina doctor.

In my experience, you never really know how long you’re going to be at your vagina doctor appointment for. Some days it’s quick. You’re in and you’re out. Some days your appt gets pushed WAY back. And some days, just as you’re getting called back to pee in the cup and get weighed, your doc gets called out for another patient whose baby is crowning.

It’s a crap shoot, people. So, while I was at my OBGYN appt this morning, I took it upon myself to create a list of ‘must-have’ items for those of us gestating women who sometimes forget things.

Behold, my 5 must-haves (with one exception) when going to see my vagina doctor…

  • Cardigan 1 of 5
    Cardigan
My favorite cardigan is light-weight enough to shove in my purse if I'm hot, or wear with my hands in the pockets if I'm cold.
  • Infinity Scarf 2 of 5
    Infinity Scarf
I have eleventy of these in all different colors and patterns. If you're chilly, double wrap it around your neck. If you're mid hot flash, prop it under your head as a pillow while you wait on the exam table.
  • Day Planner 3 of 5
    Day Planner
Though I live and die by my smart phone, I still keep a pen and day planner in my purse at all times. I note appointments, and keep an empty section in the back for questions I have for my vagina doctor.
  • Hydration 4 of 5
    Hydration
In a bottle, cup, camelback or however else, keeping water with me helps me from getting stage fright when I have to pee in the cup. CHUG CHUG CHUG!
  • Silly Kid 5 of 5
    Silly Kid
He is the one exception because sometimes he is at school during my appointments. When he does come with me though, he keeps me laughing while asking what the stirrups are for.
