My 16 + 1/2 Week Twin Pregnancy: Update + PHOTOS

16 + 1/2 Week Twin Pregnancy: Update + PHOTOS

After much ado, and a lot of eager requests from readers and far-away friends, I was finally able to get it together enough to take some pictures of my quickly growing baby bump!

But first, a little update on my pregnancy: It’s going great! I skirted past any morning sickness during the first trimester (praise God) and dealt with some manageable tiredness. My appetite has been healthy, though I do need to increase my iron intake (which I am). I’m comfortably wearing maternity jeans, and wonder whether I’ll ever return to regular ones (Holy cow, these are comfy!). We’ll find out in two and a half weeks what sexes the twins are and I can barely wait!

At first I was concerned about carrying twins. Could my body handle it? I’m 5’8″ and 125 pounds non-pregnant. When I learned that I could potentially gain upwards of 50 pounds, I wondered how my frame would be able to carry that! But the doctors have all assured me that I have height on my side, that the babies should have ample room to grow up. I imagine that daily heartburn is but days away…

Aside from that, I don’t have much else to report. I just keep praying that the babies and I remain healthy, and that I continue to have an “uneventful” pregnancy.

At almost 17 weeks, I’ve been told by more than one mother, “You are going to be huge.” Since this is my first pregnancy, I have nothing to compare it to. So take a look for yourself, and tell me what you think!

And now, on with the show!

  • WHOA! 1 of 5
Do you see the look of fear on my face? This is some belly for a gal who is only going to turn 17-weeks pregnant in two days.

Can We Even Call This a Bump?
It seems like I went from "slightly bulgy" to obviously pregnant overnight. And each morning, my belly just keeps on growing.

So, naturally, I don't walk around with my shirt up during the day (or ever, actually). This is what I look like on a normal day.

    Not Even Halfway There!
It's hard for me to comprehend just how big I'm going to get when this is what I look like at 16 and a half weeks.

    Happy to be Growing
My doctors say I'm doing great, so for now I'm happy to be growing. They've told me to enjoy the comfort now, because twin pregnancies usually get quite uncomfortable toward the end.
