My Husband… Is Nesting…

By Danielle |

I never thought I would see the day when my husband began to nest. But Saturday was that day. After working a half day, I asked him to simply open the crib box so I could count the number of crib slats on the crib. I needed to place my order for my wonder bumpers, and I wanted to do it sooner rather than later.

After hearing him fumble the box around for a bit, I came in to count the number of slats, and I discovered he was actually building the crib. At that moment I began thinking…um…who is this man?  And what did he do with my husband?

I think in reality my husband has started to nest. I think he realized all the work I put into the room over the last week, and he wanted to do his part. I loved it!  He was done in a little while, and not only could I count my railings, but I also could move some things around in the bedroom, which I couldn’t do on my own to get the crib into the location it will be staying.

I decided on the opposite corner of the bedroom I originally picked. I figured she really should be further away from the window in the room especially since in the winter, it is always cold by the windows themselves.

But what really surprised me was when he started asking about the wall art I had picked up for the nursery and if I actually had any of it that he could start putting up?  Wow!  Who are you again?!

Of course I was going to take advantage of it… heck I wasn’t about to start climbing up the walls to stick these things on the wall without any help. God knows with my clumsy nature, I would break a bone. No, seriously… I would!

I pulled out the wall art, gave it to him and helped direct him where I wanted certain things, and up they went. The room I imagined in my head slowly started to come to life in front of my eyes!

For the mean time, this is how I am storing everything until we pick up the dresser, and I find baskets for the inside of the cubies.

Some of the wall art up…

I totally broke down and actually labeled all the stuff I have bought already… although the cat was kinda here already… Bet you wouldn’t have noticed him if I didn’t point him out!  LOL

Then in a split second the fire department pager went off for a roll over car accident on the highway, and the nesting husband went into full blown life saving mode, and out the door he ran in shorts and a t-shirt while it was a whopping 2 degrees outside!  And the nursery is dead in its tracks all over again.

I am super happy with the progress though. I really needed to get that much done just for my own anxiety levels.

I bought those decals from Target as well. I fell in love with the pink owl and the hedgehog. Had a happy ending issue when putting up the decals, though. The tree trunk wouldn’t stay on the wall so I took I giant art canvas, 4 x 3 or so, I had bought to paint a masterpiece but never got around to it, anyway, I painted it pink and stuck the tree decal and some of the animals on it. Then I bought some 16″ by 20″ canvases and painted those pink as well to place the “extra” owls on them. Now my gender neutral nursery that made it through two boys is now a little pink for my little girl, :) .
