My Name is Danielle… And I have a Shopping Problem

If you opened the door to our nursery right now… you would see something similar to the picture on the left. Boxes, lots of them, filled with everything from dressers, to swings. And it all came to a head yesterday when I dragged one of my best girlfriends, and two kids to Ikea.

You know, the place you literally could get lost in, or spend an entire day just walking around and shopping. But I was on a mission. I needed to find bin numbers, accessories, and go, not hang around all day. With that being said, it still took us a good two hours.

But I guess the highlight of the trip itself is the fact I can say we have nothing left to buy for the nursery. Everything is bought, paid for, and just needs to be assembled at this point.

I got the following:

  • Dresser
  • This neat cubical thing with bins (Because the one I have isn’t going to work in the room)
  • Wicker Baskets
  • A full length etched glass mirror
  • A small lamp for those midnight feedings
  • A vase with adorable fake flowers to make an arrangement
  • And a couple picture frames for prints I have bought

Tons of stuff, while it doesn’t look like a lot when it is typed out, I am sure my husband is just excited to have to build all the stuff I bought. But I think the most comical moment of the entire trip was packing all the stuff into my minivan. Yes, I am a minivan mom!

My girlfriend Steph is about 100 pounds soaking wet, and I am going on 29 weeks pregnant. We locked the kids in their car seats, and then the real fun began. I am sure more than a dozen people walked by watching us and probably laughing hysterically. You would think they could have stopped and helped??  Ha!

It was nice to get everything finished, now just comes the hard part… assembly. Getting my husband to build everything, so I can finalize the room itself. But I can tell you my nesting has kicked in… FULL FORCE!
