I never said I wasn’t excited to be pregnant with my third child… just surprised by it. But in the past month since we found out we were having a little girl, I had developed a serious shopping problem, or at least my husband seems to think so.
Now before I get into it… after our second son was born, we got rid of all the baby stuff as he outgrew it. Infant car seats, bumbo chairs, swings, bouncers, and really all the things we knew we weren’t going to use again. Why not donate it to charities, or give to friends instead of being pack rats and keeping things we won’t use again?
When I got pregnant this time the sheer panic of having to buy all this stuff set in again. I mean really… I never understood why babies needed all kinds of apparel until I started parenting. The swing saved my life with my second son who had horrible colic… the bouncer made taking a shower a simple task, and the travel system made mall walking excursions simple in the short weeks post cesarean surgery. Had I not been able to get out of the house, I am sure I would have lost my mind.
But this time around there is just so much more to buy. Clothes being one thing. I have gone through my older boys stuff and sadly realized that out of four large rubbermaid totes of clothing… I can use about a hand full of things on a little girl. We have an obnoxious amount of blue sports apparel, and bright blue puppy outfits.
Now I find myself searching for sales… clothes, nursery decorations, and everything else I am going to need to replace again. And this past weekend I hit the mother load of sales and splurged on baby clothes. This is after I have already picked up a baby swing, bouncer, headbands, a sling, and all kinds of new accessories. I think my husband is ready to take away my debit card!
That is just a few things I got this weekend. Blankets, clothes from newborn to 12 months, and even some adorable baby girl sports stuff that my husband picked up the same day I was out charging it up.
I guess I just get a little carried away when it comes to baby shopping… for anyone!
