Nursery Inspiration: 18 Amazing Nurseries with White Wood Floors

My friend, who is a home designer, once told me that when you need to decorate a room, pull every piece of swipe that appeals to you (or pin it on Pinterest) and then look at everything you’ve pulled for common themes.

For instance, when I was decorating my apartment, I soon discovered that almost every photo I liked had touches of aqua and green. So those were the colors I used in my living room. I also discovered I like patterns, wallpaper and chunky bookcases. It’s really amazing how many similar elements you’ll find when you look at years of scrap all at once.

When I was decorating my nursery, I was no different. I pulled hundreds of photos from magazines, bookmarked images online, and poured through home decor books. Although all the photos I gravitated to seemed different at first glance, ultimately I discovered one theme that ran throughout.

White wood floors.

Somehow, all the nurseries seemed bright and fresh when set against white wood floors. Colors popped and everything took on a very modern feel, even if the nursery was filled with vintage furniture and toys.

There are two ways you can get the look— with a white floor paint like Behr Premium Plus Porch & Floor paint or a white floor stain like Minwax Water-Based Wood Stain in White Oak, both available at Home Depot. One will give an opaque white painted look (which is great for making dark rustic floors feel modern) while the other will give an overall white appearance but still let the wood grain show through.

Here are 18 nurseries with white wood floors to inspire you:
