Us Magazine reports actress Penelope Cruz, 36, and actor husband Javier Bardem, 41, are new parents.
Penelope reportedly gave birth at Cedars Sinai Hospital in California today. Although I’ve seen a couple of reports saying they have a son, the couple have yet to officially announce the sex of the baby or the name. Which, isn’t that what we really want to know? The name?
It’s a banner day for Bardem who was also announced as a best actor Oscar nominee for his role in the film “Biutiful,” which picked up a nomination of its own for Best Foreign Film. I’m wondering now if Penelope was in labor when he got the good Oscar news? Does it get any better than that? New baby and an Oscar nomination?
Earlier today, after the Oscar nominations were announced, Being Pregnant writer Rebecca Odes speculated on when Penelope may be due and was pretty close. But now that we know a pregnant Penelope won’t be attending the February 27th telecast, I wonder if a post-pregnant but super slim Penelope will be there to support her man? I hope not. I hope she rocks it Amy Adams style and revels in her curves.
Either way, with a February 25th due date I may be watching the Academy Awards from a hospital bed. Electronic bed, room service… pretty good gig if you can get it. Think the hospital will have champagne on hand?
For kicks, check out this on Babble’s Famecrawler. Can you spot Penelope’s baby bump in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides?
