I know that once the baby arrives in a few more weeks any “me time” will be obsolete. I also know that because of this there will be a great many things that fall by the wayside – things like: painting my nails, tweezing my eyebrows, putting on a clean shirt… you know…the basics. I also know that sleep is probably going to come at a premium and it is quite likely that I’m going to resemble one of the zombies in 28 Days Later.
Having considered this possibility, I planned a preemptive attack against looking like a zombie otherwise known as a makeup routine. I’ve never been much for hair and makeup and I actually hadn’t bought any non-drugstore makeup since our wedding four years ago (sad, I know) so I was definitely overdue.
After a trip to Sephora and a consultation with one of their fabulous makeup consultants, I’m feeling confident that even if I might be feeling like a zombie postpartum, at least I won’t look like one.

Tarte Dark Circle Defense Under Eye Concealer 1 of 6The absolute key to any anti-zombie beauty routine is a good solid under eye concealer to hide your lack of sleep. I already depend on this pretty heavily, so it takes a lot to impress me, but after trying multiple brands at multiple price points, this was my favorite. Not only does it cover dark circles, but it also has treatment in it to deal with puffiness. Bonus - it comes with a brush! Click here for link/to purchase.
Tarte EmphasEyes Eyeliner in Black 2 of 6This eye liner is perfect for those (like myself) who lack a steady hand - it's so small that it's virtually fool proof and perfect for giving your eyes a bit of contour to make them pop. Click here for link/to purchase.
Tarte Cheek Stain in Flush 3 of 6I've tried other cheek stains before that require precision application if you don't want to stain your fingers and/or end up with weird streaks on your face, but this cheek stain by Tarte does no such thing. It gives you a lovely dewy finish and can double as a pop of color on your lips. Click here for link/to purchase.
Sephora Color Duo Eye Shadow in Natural Brown 4 of 6The slight shimmer and light natural color are perfect for opening up your eyes even when they seem like they need toothpicks for the job. Click here for link/to purchase.
Covergirl TruBlend Pressed Powder 5 of 6OK, so these last two products actually are drugstore buys, but I love them. This is a good basic for covering shine. Click here for link/to purchase.
Covergirl Lash Blast Fusion Mascara in Very Black 6 of 6A final wake up for your eyes - this mascara volumizes AND lengthens. Voila! Your anti-zombie beauty routine is complete! Click here for link/to purchase.
