It's not easy to judge the best of the best maternity bras, since differently shaped bodies fit in differently shaped bras. So we assembled a team of new and seasoned moms and consulted with maternity bra expert Jenn Sullivan, owner of the Hudson Valley-based Waddle-n-Swaddle boutique and wellness center, for their opinions.
It's impossible to know just how large your postpartum breasts will be, so it's best to hold off on a pricey nursing bra collection until your milk comes in. We picked a few favorites that are designed to grow and stretch to accommodate engorgement and the early breastfeeding weeks. Try not to make a serious investment until after your milk supply stabilizes - usually after 6 weeks. When you're ready to buy well-fitting, supportive nursing bras, we absolutely recommend getting a quality bra fitting at a local specialty store. Proper bra fitting is always important, but even more so now that too-tight bras can impair milk drainage and cause breast infections.

BEST NO-WIRE NURSING BRA | Cake Lingerie Meringue: Medium Support Soft Cup No Wire Nursing Bra
We actually loved every one of the Cake Lingerie maternity bras we tested, all of which are designed for nursing mothers. Besides being one of the most attractive collections of maternity bras we’ve ever seen (check them all out here), we couldn’t believe how supportive both the underwire and no-wire bras are. They’re a bit more expensive than the typical department store brands, but the level of quality and design is truly off the charts. The straps are thick enough to be supportive, yet stylish enough not to pass into “granny bra” territory, and the band is capable of extending farther than any other bra we tested. Plus, all of the designs are pretty and feminine.
