Pregnant And Lacking Holiday Cheer

My Christmas spirit has disappeared...along with the view of my toes.

I’m generally a fan of Christmas and holidays in general, but it seems like this year pregnancy has zapped all of the Christmas cheer from my being.

For the past couple of years we’ve decided to forgo crazy gratuitous gift giving, by DIY’ing all of our gifts and/or giving gifts of quality time (i.e. dinner dates, baked goods, etc…).  But, this year – I’m heading to the mall.  Yep.  I said it.  The very thought of even trying to attempt a DIY at this point in pregnancy sounds like pure torture.

But, that’s not the only lack of holiday cheer going on over in my neck of the woods…

Read more after the jump!

A couple of weeks ago we went Christmas tree hunting.  Well, guess where that tree is right now?  If you guessed in my living room all lit up, you’d be wrong.  If you guessed sitting in the trailer outside my house, then you guessed correctly.  I never even brought it in the house.  Who am I kidding?  We all know that thing was never going to get decorated.

Oh, and all that holiday baking that usually goes on at this time of year?  Non-existent.  I rarely even cook dinners these days, so Christmas cookies?  Not gonna happen.  A few other things that are getting nixed from my usual holiday list:  Christmas music (it annoys me), snowboarding/ice skating (for obvious reasons), snow in general (my feet don’t even fit in my rain boots anymore!), Christmas lights (yeah right – I’m so not climbing any ladders!)…the list goes on…

Basically I’m boycotting all the hype leading up to Christmas.

Rest assured I’ll make sure to enjoy some time with friends and family and eating delicious food, but I think everything else will just have to take a backseat until next year.  The holidays are more fun with kids anyway, right?

What has being pregnant during Christmas been like for you?

Have you boycotted anything or are you more into the holiday festivities than ever?
