I came across this viral flashmob video of a bunch of big bellied women in London erupting into seemingly spontaneous breakdancing mayhem. These ladies are getting down for a good cause: raising awareness about poor maternity care and birth conditions around the world. The video of the event, posted by organizing charity Oxfam, is tagged: “If you think this is dangerous, try giving birth in poor countries without a midwife, hospital or medicine. This flashmob is one of a series happening in Paris, Berlin, Utrecht and across Canada to highlight the scandal that millions of women in poor countries and around the world aren’t getting the healthcare they need for a safe and healthy pregnancy.”
Some viewers have indeed been disturbed by the image of a pregnant woman breakdancing. Some of those moves are pretty hairy!
But you may be relieved to discover that the craziest moves are done by trained dancers impersonating pregnant women in the interest of the cause. Still, watching a bunch of apparently pregnant women breakdancing is pretty fun.
