Show Off Your Bump: 15 Inspiring Maternity Photos

By Casi Densmore-Koon |

Tomorrow I will be doing something I’ve never done before. Professional maternity photos. 4 kids later and nothing to show, just a few here and there bump shots. But, not many. So, now that we are on lucky #5, and the very last, I’ve decided, let’s do it. And of course, I couldn’t do them without my lovely best friend who just so happens to be a photographer, too!

Another first for us will be family photos. Shocking right? Our oldest is 9 and even though we have plenty of pictures together we have never had the chance to professionally have family portraits taken. I am super excited for our big day!

For the last few weeks I’ve browsed tons of inspiration, picked out our wardrobe to coordinate {I put Mr.Darling in a Michael Kors pink polo, yep – he loves me!} and prepared for these maternity shots. I’ve never even thought to do this with the past pregnancies so I will say, I am a little nervous. I am far from Kate Moss. I’m hoping I can just embrace the moment and not hate the way I look on camera. I love taking pictures but I am not a fan of being the one in front of the camera.

For those of you preparing to document this special time in your life, I thought I would share 15 inspiring maternity photos, after the jump.

Can’t wait to show you mine + please, share links to yours!

I love these. Wish I would’ve thought to do something like this before I had my baby.

I love all of the bump pictures, and have been inspired by the before and after shot! What a lovely idea!! I’ve already had my bump shoot so just emailed my photographer to see if we have a photo that would work for this!! Love love love it! Great post!

Wow, as a photographer I can’t imagine not getting maternity photos done, but that’s coming from someone who is friends with other pro photographers and has at least 1-2 professional shoots done of me and my husband per year. We’ve been married 9 years and always do yearly anniversary shoots so while this year’s anniversary shoot will include me being 4 months pregnant, we’ll still be getting maternity photos this fall. I guess I’m not the norm–my third call when I found out we were pregnant was to hire one of my photographer friends to shoot the birth!
