Styling Trick for a Small BumpLauren Hartmann
In my day job I am a preschool teacher. I spend my days finger painting, singing songs and wiping noses. I love my kiddos. But in my free time, I am a wardrobe stylist – putting together outfits for photo shoots (here’s one of my favorites). I’ve always loved fashion and playing dress-up in my own closet, so I figured, why not play dress up with other people as well?
Well, let me tell you, I’m quickly learning that styling a baby bump is a lot more challenging than styling my normal shape, but I’ve been enjoying the challenge.
One challenge I’ve encountered is showing off my bump since it’s still on the small side (despite how large it may feel to me sometimes). So, today I’m going to demonstrate my use of the easiest styling trick for your baby bump: belts!

What a difference a belt makes! Sans belt, I basically look like I just gained a few pounds, but add a belt and instant bump showcasing ensues.
As for my belting suggestions…I highly recommend using belts that are a braided leather. They give you a little more room for adjustments during this time when you may be in between belt holes. I also prefer skinny, long belts that I can tie. Wear the belt just underneath your bust. I tried to wear it a bit lower (i.e. where I normally would pre-pregnancy) when my bump first started emerging and it was both terribly uncomfortable and incredibly awkward looking. Just don’t do it!
Hope this offered you a bit of inspiration for your maternity wardrobe. Belts can be your best friend!
