I’ve had a rough week. Tuesday afternoon, I started getting a funny feeling deep in my chest. I could almost feel it itching at the back of my throat. I finished up my major responsibilities then headed home to rest. The next morning, I woke up feeling pretty crummy and by Thursday it was even worse!! Coughing, congestion, achy chest, crap-in-the-lungs, hot… just plain ol’ sick. Plus, I can’t help but think of my little man wiggling inside me every time I suffer a coughing fit. Today I’m feeling slightly back to my normal self aside from that lingering cough and sexy throaty voice. Being sick while pregnant certainly isn’t fun!
Since it’s typically recommended to avoid over-the-counter medications during pregnancy, I’ve been practicing natural remedies such as drinking water like no body’s business, sipping on ginger honey lemon tea, irrigating my nose with a neti pot, standing in the steaming shower and getting plenty of rest. All of these seem to be helping tremendously but I’m not quite myself yet. Thankfully I don’t have much on my schedule this weekend! I’m certainly looking forward to putting on sweat pants and a t-shirt and watching episodes of Flash Forward on Netflix.
For someone who rarely takes any medicine, I’m looking for more natural remedies to kick this cold. What works best for you?
