Who loves second-hand? Who loves super hot vintage finds? Without the trendy, up-marked price tag? I had a lot of fun today finding some maternity appropriate items (read: fits in the 3rd trimester). Not strictly maternity wear, less than what the tags list in many boutique vintage shops.
Who says we have to conform to spending ludicrous amounts on maternity fashion to rock our bump? Nay. There are plenty of boho-chic, mod, classic and vintage finds/cuts trending out there that flatter our growing midsection. Comfortably. Sexy and/or Modest. Especially in this heat and as I near the end of my third trimester, sure, I want to feel not-so-frumpy, but comfort really is number one on the list. Particularly while chasing around my 20 month old wild child. So if I can look good (= helps to feel good) doing it, bonus.
That said, there are some items that I am a firm believer in splurging on. Nursing bras, (I buy just those as opposed to nursing and maternity bra’s, waste of money if you ask me), maternity jeans, some stretchy, light-knit knee biters for under all those rump exposing summer dresses. I love the ones that have the sheer, thin waist that one cal pull up over their tummies or fold down. So comfy. I digress.
If you are a vintage lover like me, snatch up some of these pretty pieces before they are gone! Of course I am speaking to the well-rounded on-line shopper, the thrifters out there who list second-hand shopping as one of their top favourite things to do. It’s not for everyone, but once you get over the fear (of buying on-line without trying it on), well – it’s a beautiful thing. Really. If you are amongst the cult, (Goodwill, Sally-Ann and Value Village huntresses), then have at’er! Use these pieces as inspiration to draw from.
Great pleasure and inspiration is to be found amongst these bloggesses, ‘What I Wore’ posts. Three are mama’s, (one is currently expecting) – and put together the most unique, flattering, gorgeous outfits and accessories. So many of them would work with a pregnant bod.
What are some of your favourite second-hand shops, or ways to accessorize outfits to compliment your bump?
