We Did NOT Buy a Glider!

Yes, yes. My posts this week are all about baby purchases (can you tell I’m nesting)?  First, I wrote We Bought a Stroller! and then, We Bought a Car Seat!

The next major purchase: a glider (or a rocking chair), which my mom has generously offered to purchase. There’s only one problem…

Gliders are ridiculously expensive! The basic models start in the mid-100s, but nicer chairs easily go for $500… or more. I saw a few $800 gliders while shopping with my mom. I think we both nearly gagged. She’s not prepared to spend that much – and I would NEVER want her to! It’s just a chair, after all. Right?

Well, then I started to read reviews on the cheaper models, and lots of commenters complained that the chairs creaked, rubbed against the wood, had thin pads, or had exposed screw heads. You get what you pay for, I guess. And I’ll be spending a lot of time in that chair, so I want it to be super comfortable. But does that really mean I need to spend $500?

I’ve started to scout Craigslist.com ads to see if I can find a high-quality glider at a low price. So far, no luck, but I have a few weeks to pull it together!

In the meantime, does anyone have any mid-range glider recommendations?  We’d love to spend less than $300!
