When's the Best Time of Year to Have a Baby?

2012 calendarI have to admit something kind of embarrassing, before I knew we would have trouble conceiving I made sure we weren’t actively trying for a baby at the end of February and in March. I refused to have a Christmas baby for a few reasons but mostly didn’t want my child’s birthday to always compete with the holidays. Then the second year of trying rolled around and I said, “To heck with it! I don’t give a darn when this baby comes as long as it comes!”

Since we had basically no control over when we would actually conceive, there was no planning around the birthdate. But now that I’m due in the spring, I can’t think of a better time to have a baby. And when I tell people my due date they’ve also remarked that it’s a great time of year to have a baby. Here are some reasons it’s great to have a baby in the spring:

– when you’re pregnant it’s not sweltering outside and you can just wear tights and cardigans
– it’s far enough past the holidays that you can spread out the gift giving
– there are no worries about when they’ll start the school year
– the baby will be big enough to take outside during the summer
– baby in just a onesie = adorable

I’m sure there’s a long list for every time of the year but spring sounds perfect to me. When do you think is the best time of year to have a baby?
