I know, I know. You’re thinking, “How much social media do I need in my life?” But just hear me out! Pinterest is not just any social-media outlet. In fact, it’s quite possibly the best website for sharing and getting ideas. And here’s why…
Pinterest is like a vacation from everyday social media.
At Pinterest, you don’t have to listen – and by listen, I mean, read – that annoying friend rant about how miserable or wonderful her life is in her status update, or that quasi-intellectual friend bore you again with her 7th link to NPR (Let’s be serious, how much public radio can one person even listen to in a day?), or that in-your-face political friend who knows 101 reasons you shouldn’t vote republican (and it’s not even an election year!), or that friend who only posts about sports (surely, there must be something else you’re interested in?).
At Pinterest, you’re not limited to a 140-characters post. You’re not expected to express yourself without using images. You’re able to comment when someone says something. You can show your love with a “like.” And there is no secret lingo to learn.
At Pinterest, you pin. Recipes, DIY projects, nursery ideas, inspirational and motivational quotes, the latest momma fashion, your dream wedding, your favorite books, pictures of pets, bucket lists, baby names, products you can’t live without and that the rest of the world should know about, and anything else on God’s green earth that tickles your fancy. You decide which fabulous categories you care about and create a “board” on which to pin your ideas or ideas you discover and want to share with others.
At Pinterest, you can follow all of someone or just what you want, so the days of being either forced to read posts you care nothing about or hide that annoying/boring/aggressive friend from your newsfeed are over! Don’t give a hoot about my recipes’ board but adore my DIY board? You can follow one and not the other! You choose. Say goodbye to being tortured by the all-or-nothing follow options from other social-media sites. The only things getting thrown in your face over at Pinterest are things you want thrown in your face, like really delicious pie.
If you’re still reading this and haven’t already jumped over to join Pinterest, you’re probably waiting for one more reason. Well, here it is: Babble’s on Pinterest!. And we’ll even send you an invite if you need one! Just leave your email address in the comments of this post and we’ll be sure you get an in.
Be sure to follow Babble on Pinterest!
[Aside from the sports' posts, writer is guilty of all other said posts.]
