Cloth Diapers
Cloth diapers aren't always the most convenient or cheapest option, but it's a choice that's healthy for your baby and the planet. Plus, they've come a long way! Today you can find highly absorbent, easy-to-fit cloth diapers that are used exactly like disposables - only you throw them in the wash instead of the garbage. Plus, it's not an all-or-nothing decision. You can use hybrid options (which are biodegradable but disposable), or supplement your cloth diapers with disposables.
Yet all of these advances have given cloth-using parents one problem: too many diapers to choose from! Luckily, we tested 17 of the most popular cloth diapers - from prefolds to all-in-ones - to find the best of the best. Did we forget one? Nominate your favorite here.
BEST OVERALL | Bummis Tots Bots Easy Fit Pocket Diaper
After months of testing cloth diapers, this is the first one we reach for every time. If we could pick only one type of diaper to use, this Tots Bots Easy Fit (distributed by Bummis) would be it.
The Easy Fit has everything you could ask for in a cloth diaper: It functions like an AIO because the liner is attached, yet you're able to stuff the sewn-in liner like a pocket diaper for more customizable absorbency. And then when it's time to wash, just throw the entire diaper right in the water (no unsnapping or unstuffing), and the liner shakes out on its own. (We've washed these diapers dozens of times and they've always come out clean.) And even though they wash like an AIO, they don't take days to dry. They're the easiest to wash and dry, hands down.
We're also obsessed with the super soft lining made with bamboo fibre. Not only does bamboo feel buttery soft, but it's also 70 percent more absorbent (on contact) than cotton, and it has natural antibacterial properties.
To top it off, the Easy Fit contained leaks and blowouts exceptionally well, was incredibly easy to fit both our infant and toddler testers (it grows from 8 to 35 pounds), and didn't leave any red marks. Overall we have no complaints. Love, love, love them.

I don’t have enough good things to say about the Kawaii Baby diapers! The pockets are wide and well designed with a flap similar to bum genius, but it is safely tucked behind the inner fabric. Some styles have crossover tabs (My favorite!) So far they seem pretty sturdy. I’m in love with them!
I started out with these prefolds for my youngest son and absolutely love them. I sometimes use pocket diapers, as I make diapers myself, but I love using these prefolds both with a cover, and stuffed into pocket diapers. They are very absorbant and easy for me to use.
I am very new to cloth diapers (We have only been CDing for about 2 months now) and Bum Genius pocket diapers were the first diaper I chose and I think they have to be my favorite in our stash! They fit our 8 month old very well and I love the cute pastel and bright colors!
happy heineys diapers are the only diaper that fits my son with still room to grow he is very tall for his age (over 3 feet and just turned two) I find he is growing out of other big named cloth diaper but this one will keep him going till he potty trained
GroVia (formerly GroBaby) has one-size all in two covers in some really cute colors/patterns. Their soakers snap in and have gussets to keep in the mess. They also carry AIOs.
They have a new two size system, the leg gussets are great, barely any leaks and they are made in the USA, which I was super surprised that most of the other brands aren’t… They have fitted diapers, covers, and an all in one insert system too… moderately priced, and last a long time, we’re on our second baby with the same set!

We love this fitted diaper! Having a 2 year old who wets A LOT at night, we needed a better option. We had tried everything until finding this fitted. When he wakes up in the morning, this diaper still feels dry to the touch. I think he’s sleeping better too without the wetness waking him up.

I just got one of these diapers and love it! It comes with a stay dry or organic liner and you can get disposables if needed. My pre-folds also work well. The outer cover is designed to be used over and over again, just change the insert. This makes it a very affordable cloth diaper. It has multiple snap options making it a great choice for babies from 8 to 35 pounds.
Not only are they leak-proof, but also incredibly trim. The craftsmanship is better than any other diaper I’ve seen on the market, and I’ve tried a lot of diapers. I prefer the diapers with the athletic wicking fabric, but fleece and bamboo are also available as inners. RSD offers pockets, trainers, and AIOs, and a great stay-dry overnight diaper as well!

One of THE BEST cloth nappies i’ve bought and i have bought a few. My daughter happens to soak the nappies quite a bit and issy bear nappys dont even feel wet. They have a variety of colours and pictures and last a very long time and fits newborns to older toddlers. Cant stop buying them.

The Pop-Ins are a one-size all-in-two style nappy that come in either bamboo or microfibre. They have double leg gussets and are a brilliant nappy for day and night. We’ve used ours exclusively on a 2 year old and now a 5 month old and have literally never had a leak. It’s the double leg gusset that has us sold!

Ive been using the OSFA and Sandys large, airflow wraps, and swim nappy. All are really good. Great absorbancy and nice fit. My OSFA are actually second hand and they are in fantastic condition. They are really easy to put on and my tall 18 month old baby still fits them really well. The nappy covers will go over an nappy and will contain any leak. I’m a big fan of motherease nappy products.

Bubbamoo’s are the best MCN’s I have ever come across. Multi rows of snaps means they can fit from newborn to toilet trained. Boosters are super absorbent. Tonnes of designs to choose from, as well as fabric. I have 12 Bubbamoo’s, and have never had a leak, or any other problem with them. Neither has anyone else I know, who uses them. LUSH!!!

Best choice for newborns IMHO. Soft, bamboo terry prefold nappies used inside a well fitting cover or fastened with a Snappi. Once grown out of, they are great stuffers for pocket nappies. Love them! Would DEFINITELY recommend and easy to use, cost effective option. Two sizes, we used newborn size with a small newborn (2.8kg) up to 3 months (approx 6kg)

Newborn to 8kg these are fantastic soft bamboo fitteds that you close with a snappi and use with a cover. You can continue using them when they no longer fit by sliding them into Blueberry weehuggers size 2 cover (they fit perfectly!). Cost effective, comfy for baby, don’t leak and easy to use.

Can’t beat Snugglebottoms diapers for their affordability and trim fit. We love these diapers, and you can get them either with or without closures, which we find to be a nice option.

All natural wool makes for super absorbent cloth diaper covers (not to mention wool is naturally antibacterial). I never once had to change crib sheets due to leaks for the 10 months my son used these. They are very bulky, so you have to size up clothing, but you can’t beat the durability. The hippie in me liked using all natural covers.

These are amazing diapers. They sell you everything you need, no extra soakers or covers to buy, which makes it very nice when you’re new to cloth diapering. The fit is excellent and you can add embroidery to the bum which makes them supper cute! Try them, I love them and can’t wait to have more kids to expand my collection!

Easiest to use and wash, and most absorbant. AIO are easier to use, but take forever to hang dry. These you can hang dry the shell and the soakers, but put the soakers in the wash for 5 mins to soften once dry and u don’t have to worry about velcro snagging. The only diaper that doesn’t leak for us after 30 minutes.

I use cloth inserts with them. I’ve tried a lot of options and with other diapers my son would rash constantly but as soon as I switched to gdiapers it’s gone! I also had zero issues of the waterproofing dissolving (unlike other PUL options). They fit so trim that people think my son has underwear on. Because I don’t have to wash the whole pant separatly, just the insert, there’s less diaper wash.

diapeze are an AI2 system like no other. They have diapeze tabs inside that hold the 100% organic cotton insert in place. She also makes traineze which are the potty training version with a built in mini soaker to help with the beginning stages of potty training. She makes many other products too! I use Thirsties Hemp Prefolds with Gen-Y diaper covers. You must add the category of diaper cover to this list and Gen-Y’s are the best.
Hands down the best cloth diaper we’ve tried. Tried FuzziBunz and Oh Katy’s before landing on this page and seeing Best Bottom. Tried a few of these out and for the last 3 months have had 0 leaks. We have switched to cloth diapers full time at this point and love these.
