Babble Best Picks:
There comes a time in every parent's life when they're introduced to something so genius, so life-changing, that they simply can't imagine how they mustered through life without it. And that something is a baby carrier. Whether it's for closer baby bonding, hands-free convenience or an attachment parenting lifestyle, a baby carrier can be an essential baby product for the sleepless newborn days all the way through the heavy toddler years. You just have to find the right one for you.
To make your search easier, Babble tested dozens of baby carriers in every style imaginable - soft-structure, slings, wraps, backpacks - to find the best for your particular lifestyle. Don't see your favorite? Feel free to nominate it!
BEST NON-ADJUSTABLE SLING | Petunia Pickle Bottom Sojourn Sling
If you want something for your infant that’s less bulky than a baby carrier but not quite as complicated as a baby wrap, this Petunia Pickle Bottom pouch-like sling is the most comfortable and, of course, the prettiest sling of the bunch. With super-soft fabric that has a little stretch to it, we didn’t worry about suffocation or poor support once. And unlike other slings we tried, this one didn’t kill our shoulders. While it’s probably more practical for smaller infants (even though it says up to 25 pounds), we preferred the soft fabric and easy design over the other slings we tested. However, it should be said that this is a one-size-fits-all design, so some parents might not fit in it well. You want it to be fairly snug to your body for safety reasons. (We didn’t test any adjustable slings.) Also, keep in mind that slings aren’t as hands-free as soft-structure or wrap carriers – we still felt a need to keep one hand cradling baby.
