The Outsiders’s Rankings
- #14 Young Adult
You may remember this movie or even the book; it’s still one of the best-written books for teens about personal choice, responsibility, loyalty, and social justice. Poor gang-member Ponyboy narrates the story about his life in a gang, the Greasers, who fight the rich-kids gang, the Socs, and kill one of them. Ponyboy and his best friend, Johnny, hide from the cops after the murder and must deal with the consequences of Johnny’s crime. Readers will find the characters likable and believable, the plot suspenseful, and the theme of social justice thought-provoking.
