Walk Two Moons’s Rankings
- #16 Young Adult
Thirteen-year-old Salamanca Tree Hiddle takes a road trip with her grandparents to find her missing mother. During the trip, Sal invents a story about Phoebe Winterbottom, whose life experiences mirror her own. Through the dual stories, we see both girls growing in acceptance of themselves and others. We don’t entirely understand what happened to Sal’s mom or the complexity of the family issues until the end. Readers will love the characters, suspense, and life wisdom in this most unusual and terrific story.
