Top 25 Android Apps for Kids

Got an iPhone? Best iPhone Apps for Kids

You may view your Android phone as a communications device, but your kids know that it's actually an awesome mobile gaming center. When you're caught in traffic or facing an unexpectedly long wait at the pediatrician's office, you are going to hand over that phone. The kids will be happy, you'll be relieved, and, if you choose your apps carefully, they might even learn something while they play. On a safety note, while some of these games have the option to network with other players, I don't recommend that for kids. Let them know they shouldn't select anything that says "Share" or "Sign into a network." Did I leave out your favorite? - Sonya Mukherjee

Three Little Pigs’ Rankings

This original take on the classic Three Little Pigs story adds a few modern embellishments, like a little pig’s house being hooked up with cable TV. Kids can choose whether to read the story or have it read to them. The narrator has an animated, excited-sounding tone, and upbeat music plays in the background, making for a high-energy reading experience. The free version has ads, but you can get an ad-free version for $0.99. If your kids enjoy this book, you’ll find several other StoryChimes stories in the Android Market.

No ads, they also put a button lock their apps. No more worrying about your kid calling 911 while they’re playing the game in the back seat.
