Babble Best Toys of 2012
The New York Toy Fair is one of the biggest toy conventions in the world, with everyone from toy giants (like Hasbro and Fisher-Price) to innovative start-up companies (like Begin Again and iBuKu) sharing their newest designs and imaginative ideas for kids toys. We were the envy of every child this week, sorting through hundreds of thousands of new products to find the very best toys of 2012. And we have to say it was an impressive year, filled with tech innovations, toys made of unique eco-materials, and a few brand new companies that deserve serious recognition. If we missed one of your favorite new toys of 2012, nominate it here! - Michelle Horton

Green Ring | Begin Again
From the co-founders of eco-conscious Sprig Toys, Begin Again takes innovation and imagination to a whole new level – and it might just be the breakout toy company of 2012.
Although I could pretty much feature every single Begin Again toy as among the best of 2012, their simple Green Ring teether is the perfect example of their commitment to safety, the environment, and affordability. The teether is made from sustainably harvested beech wood and Green Dot, a fully compostable material. Green Dot has a rubbery feel (perfect for teething) and turns into a nutrient for the earth when recycled. When asked if Begin Again would have exclusive rights to the new Green Dot material, the co-founder said he actually hopes more companies start using it – for our children’s benefit, as well as for the Earth’s.
