Babble Best Toys of 2012
The New York Toy Fair is one of the biggest toy conventions in the world, with everyone from toy giants (like Hasbro and Fisher-Price) to innovative start-up companies (like Begin Again and iBuKu) sharing their newest designs and imaginative ideas for kids toys. We were the envy of every child this week, sorting through hundreds of thousands of new products to find the very best toys of 2012. And we have to say it was an impressive year, filled with tech innovations, toys made of unique eco-materials, and a few brand new companies that deserve serious recognition. If we missed one of your favorite new toys of 2012, nominate it here! - Michelle Horton

Story Box | Janod
If you’re a fan of quality wooden toys, you might want to take a seat while flipping through the new Janod catalog. Brand new to the U.S. (after over 40 years of toy craftsmanship in France), the brand makes it nearly impossible to pick a favorite toy – but I think I did.
Their themed story sets – including trains, characters, and a building – satisfy the classic toddler train obsession in a more unique, imagination-provoking setting that appeals to both boys and girls. The circus set has to be my favorite, although the firefighter, cowboy-and-Indian western theme, and farm sets aren’t far behind.
Ages: 2 – 8 years
Price: $20 – $80
