Top 50 iPhone Apps for Kids
About a week after I began using my iPhone, I was in love. I had a calendar with me at all times, and I was able to stay on top of my family's schedule - even though there are six of us! I had email access while I was out, so I wasn't constantly playing catch up with PTO business in the evening. Then I discovered apps! There are many apps to help busy moms manage their lives, but there are also just as many exclusively for kids. My children can watch videos, interact with their favorite characters, and practice letter-writing and math. No matter where my family goes, they can be entertained and I can have peace of mind knowing they're learning even while they're having fun.

In January 2009 I began a website, The iPhone Mom, dedicated to helping moms find apps that could do the same for them and their children. Since beginning the site, I've seen both the quantity and quality of useful apps for kids grow.
Babble.com asked me to put together a list of my Top 50 iPhone Apps for Kids. Here, in descending order, are my favorites and the ones I think you'll find most useful.

Colortoons is a coloring app starring chunky cartoon animals with large, appealing eyes that suck you in until, before you know it, you’re coloring alongside your child! The animals in the app are divided into the following categories: woodland, dinosaurs, farm, and safari. There is also a blank canvas that your child can paint on. The animals can be colored with either a paintbrush or a paint bucket tool. When you use the paintbrush it allows for freeform coloring. With the bucket you are able to automatically fill in the area of the cartoon where you tapped. The app features a large range of colors, and after your child has finished creating his or her masterpiece, they can save the picture to your camera roll. However, you can also brilliantly turn off this autosave feature in the settings. Believe me, this feature will save you tons of memory on your phone!

I would also recommend parents to pay attention to such an educational iPhone app for their kids as Kinder Hangman – http://sharkfuel.com/kinderhangman.html it is an interesting iPhone game that is helpful for child development and allows kids to learn new words quickly and effectively. Learning process is organized as an interesting game with graphical themes and animations. This game is recommended for kids of 5-10 years. Great app!
KiddieCalc – new kids calculator app. Really cute – talks, has interactive sounds and buttons. A real calculator that’s as much fun as a game!
