For years, I would scour magazines looking for the best of the best in d'cor, fashion and lifestyle for kids. No wonder I'm a bit blog-obsessed. There's simply no better, more efficient or prettier way to score amazing finds than via mom-owned and mom-run Design Blogs.
As the co-founder of Mamaista.com, a blogger for Babble's Family Style blog, and a former magazine editor, I like to think I know a thing or two about what qualifies as good design. So when Babble.com asked me to pick a list of the top 50 design blogs, I was excited, to say the least. While it's hard to whittle the best 50 and rank them in order of fabulosity (and of course, we can't forget our own Family Style blog), I think this list gives you a taste of the amazing range. Moms who love discovering things for themselves will go gaga over this site dedicated to all things mod and retro for babies and kids. Modern Kiddo scouts sites like Etsy, Ebay and other e-tailers to bring you amazing vintage finds, like retro baseball onesies and grandpa-inspired boys’ caps, so you don’t have to spend hours looking through mothball piles at your local thrift store.
The Mama:
Launched by Alix and Dottie, two vintage-obsessed moms from San Fran, their site is a testament to their own love of retro. They’re also members of a 60s-style go-go dance group, The Devil-Ettes, and have amazing flair and energy.
