Rainer’s Rankings

Who: Rainer Jenss, father of two, New York

Why we love this site: The Jenss family travelogue is part of National Geographic’s Intelligent Travel site and features such far-flung adventures as dog-sledding in Canada and scuba diving in Palau (21 hours of flight time from NYC – this one was deemed “a bear”). As the former publisher of National Geographic for Kids and a dad of two boys, Jenss has a great sense for what parents are looking for in a vacation and what kids of all ages will actually enjoy. In addition to “extreme” travel, he also writes about everyday excursions to nearby Lake Placid, NY, and trips to see the fantastic Christmas Lights in Dyker Heights, Queens.

If your travel tastes include quirky sites like the world’s largest ball of twine, please vote on the “reader’s choice” page for my humorous family travel blog, Go BIG or Go Home. Its a chronicle of what happens when my small-town family visits the worlds largestwhatever! We hit the road to seek out the worlds largest bowling pin, kaleidoscope, or light bulb, then rate the attraction so you can decide whether to Go BIG, or stay home! http://bit.ly/iB3gLU

Shameless self-promotion: If you like family travel blogs, come visit http://creekmoreworld.com We do ‘live’ daily blogging as we have traveled for many months to a dozen different countries. It’s a family journey not just to exotic and remote places, but to a shared goal of traveling for 365 days that we came up with as the Wife/Mom battles cancer.
