When the time comes to potty train - whether that's at 12 months or 3 years - there are dozens and dozens of potty seats to choose from. And while we wish we could tell you what the unequivocal best is, a lot has to do with your child's age, your personal preference, and simple trial and error. Some toddlers prefer the security of a tiny potty seat, while others will step up to the big toilet from the get-go. Some parents don't mind cleaning out a plastic potty, while others gag at the mere thought.
That said, we did find top contenders in various categories, whether your main concern is price, aesthetics, or overall performance. BEST VALUE | IKEA LÄTTSAM Potty
If you're at all entertaining the idea of potty training, this one from IKEA is simply a no-brainer - even for those staunchly against small potty seats. The IKEA LÄTTSAM is refreshingly simple (no crevices to clean!), functional (it contains what it needs to contain!), and, best of all, it's 5 dollars. 1-2-3-4-5 bucks, people. While you're at it, buy an extra to keep in your car for emergency gotta-gos and then another to keep at Grandma's. And for all of you who would rather change a diaper than clean out a piece of poop-smeared plastic, your little one just might prefer a pint-sized potty. And in that case, at least it's only a $5 piece of plastic.

As we mentioned before, it was a close call between the weePOD and the Baby Bjorn Toilet Trainer, mostly because the weePOD is also adjustable – perfect for elongated toilet seats and a sturdy, secure custom fit – and is more cushioned than the Toilet Trainer. And unlike most foam-padded rings (which can crack and breed germs), the weePOD’s squishy anti-microbial EVA foam seat is much more durable and hygienic. We also love that the seat comes in a variety of bright, toddler-friendly colors without being an eyesore, and that the built-in splashguard is larger than the Baby Bjorn (which is a plus for little boys).
On the other hand, the cushioned seat detaches from the potty ring base for easy cleaning (though that also means there are more crevices for germs to hide in.) The weePOD also isn’t as compact for traveling.
Bottom line: We’d absolutely recommend this seat as a safe, sturdy, attractive-looking potty ring.
