Totally Morbid: Cutting the Baby Cake
At my baby shower we had a standard sheet cake. I think there may have been some draped fondant involved but it was simple, sweet and delicious. But some? When they are throwing a baby shower they don’t go for the basic, they take the traditional baby shower cake to a whole ‘nother level. They take it to a place of silly, kooky, crazy and down right creepy.
We’re talking cakes formed into a pregnant belly, depictions of childbirth and yes, life-sized representations of the babies themselves. The oddest part of this new-fangled trend? The cutting and actual eating of said cake. It’s like some cannibalistic / sacrificial ritual from the cutting of the baby cake’s neck (see right) to the plunging a knife into the pregnant belly cake. So, so creepy.

Funny, I don’t recall anyone mentioning cannibalism when objecting to Hooters boob cakes a week or so back. Why is that?

I love (and did I say love) cake, especially with butter-cream icing but I could not eat those cakes. BTW I would not eat a cake made to look like boobs are any other body part. You can have my piece if you dare. hehehehe!

I find it very distrubing and very sick they made cakes out of babies and mother’s giving birth to them that’s way too much information for me and anybody to know. don’t need the mental picture here.
I do not agree with a couple of theses cakes the one where the baby is laying on its stomach and and the person is cutting into its neck and the so you have ruined you life cake because a child no matter the age wheather it be a teenager or a new born is a gift!! Some people cant bare children and would give anything to birth a child but cant.. And the other one where the wfemales are giving birth are just way to much I mean yes its a part of life but who wants to see that on a cake.. Now the others ones with the babies are cute but they should just be for looks I wouldnt cut into them!! only one I would cut into would be the pampers cake! #JUST SAYING

I certainly hope some of these are fakes! As for the lifelike babies, they’re cute, but cutting into them and eating them. . . THAT would be creepy. I found the Pampers one slightly humorous.

I see how some people would find it funny, but honestly I think the birth ones are plain classless. How embarassing if you’re the mother-to-be and you get to your beautiful shower and see THAT on the table of honor.

“You’ve ruined your life” with Marge Simpson. Now that one is not bad. It’s just a joke, even though there is truth to the joke whether mothers admit it or not. The rest are in horrible taste!
Sick, I showed this to my wife and she concurred. Some were beautifully made but the subject manner was much to be desired.
I feel sorry for the baby to be, if the parents are honoring their new arrival in this way think of the rest of their life. Glad I have never met parents with such low standards. If you love them then show them the beauty in life and this is not it.
That is so tasteless! It’s bad enough that it seems like you’re cutting up babies and cannibalizing them. Yet having a decoration of a woman in childbirth – eww!!!! Those “litter box” cakes that have tootsie rolls representing cat poop are more tasteful than these. Got to admit though, the Marge Simpson one was funny – I remember the episode

Although I will say the So you have ruined your life cake is just messed up, that is what is wrong with society these days. A baby is a blessing. People who order that cake are just better putting “So you have ruined this little miracles life.”
And the birthing cakes are a bit much for me, I understand that the whole process is beautiful and wonderful, but not all if it looks as beautiful as it should.

So, the “baby bum cake” ,” A slice of diaper Cake” and the “Pretty Pregnant Baby cake” those were all sweet, The rest of them were NAAAAAAAAAAASTY, and the “ruined your life cake” Jeez I hope you don’t show that one to the kid when they get older. What the hell is wrong with people? So many families are unable to even concieve children and someone had the nerve to not only make that cake but serve it at a baby shower… Classy..

Ohhhh calm down. They are cakes. SO silly to make a big deal about this. They were done out of love and excitement at the arrival of a new baby. Although they may be creepy, there were nothing but good intentions in the planning.
I hope that some of you don’t raise your kids to be as judgmental as you. These are cakes people, just cakes! If you don’t like the cake, don’t get it, or don’t eat it if you happen to be at a party where one is served. Pretty Pregnant Baby Cake is not a bad baby shower cake, it was my first choice but went with something cheaper!….

I will preface this by saying it’s not easy to gross me out or disturb me. But these? These do both. They’re horrifying. While I respect the talent that’s required to make these cakes…they’re horrifying.
However, the pampers and marge simpson one aren’t bad. And the pregnant belly one (no baby pictured) is pretty, but I wouldn’t want to eat it.
